The Bara vase
The Bara vase is a balance between two vases: one more geometric, the other more organic.
Echoing the language of jewelry, it incorporates both form and counterform, highlighting the elegance of ceramic.
To create the vase, I used two ceramic modeling techniques: slab building and coil building.
I first constructed the larger section using slabs. I added texture effects and flat patterns, then assembled the slabs together to form the desired volume.
For the second section, I built the piece using coils and then cut openings to allow plants to be inserted.
The final step was joining the two sections together.
I was not able to fire the ceramic, but once fired and glazed, it would have a grey color.
