The Fragments necklace

Fragments is a necklace that highlights the back, an area often overlooked.

The front of the necklace is minimalist and represents modernity, while the back reflects the many facets of tradition.

The interplay of curves, right angles, and textures symbolizes different elements of Kyoto’s landscape.

To create the necklace, I first cut all the shapes from a brass sheet. I then added texture effects to the selected pieces.

The next step was to file the shapes and drill the holes. For the “drop” shape, I used a wooden bowl and a hammer to round it and add more volume to the piece.

The final step was cutting the chains, attaching the bead pins, and assembling the necklace.
